This Code of Conduct is intended to be read in conjunction with, but always as subsidiary to, the Arbitration Rules of the respective AfGAC partner arbitral institution which is in charge of administrating the proceedings. It is meant to give guidance as to the practical implementation of such rules.
The object of the arbitration must be to obtain the resolution of the dispute by a competent, independent and impartial tribunal without unnecessary delay or expense.
An arbitrator shall be faithful to the relationship of trust and confidentiality inherent in that office and should not, at any time, use confidential information acquired during the course of the proceedings to gain personal advantages or advantages for others.
